Data Scientist - Greater Manchester

Our client, a world-renowned organisation at the forefront of payment and facial recognition technology, is looking for an experienced Data Scientist to join their innovative team. With over three decades of experience, the company leads technological innovation across various industries, including retail, banking, and gaming. They operate globally in a modern R&D facility close to Manchester.

The Role:  

Our client is seeking a talented and motivated Data Scientist with expertise in deep learning techniques. The successful candidate will develop sophisticated models to derive insights from large datasets, work collaboratively with software engineers, and deliver data-driven solutions that drive the business forward.

Key Responsibilities: 

 

  • Design, implement, and refine deep learning models for image recognition tasks.  
  • Collaborate with software engineering teams to ensure smooth deployment of models.  
  • Carry out data analysis, preprocessing, and feature engineering to enhance model performance.  
  • Keep up with the latest developments in AI and deep learning, applying new techniques to practical problems.  
  • Present complex technical ideas and findings to stakeholders with varying levels of technical knowledge.  
  • Contribute to code reviews and continuous improvement of processes to maintain high-quality standards.

Skills and Experience:

 

  • Strong understanding of CNNs, GANs, or other deep learning methods.  
  • Proven experience with deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Keras.  
  • Excellent Python programming skills.  
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to work independently and collaboratively.  
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to simplify technical concepts for non-technical audiences.

Desirable Skills:

 

  • Experience working with cloud platforms like AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.  
  • Familiarity with container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.  
  • A Master’s or PhD in a relevant field such as Data Science, Computer Science, or Machine Learning (preferred).
