IT Systems Engineer – Northwich – Up to £40k
On behalf of our market-leading based in Northwich, we are recruiting for a talented IT Systems Engineer. The IT Systems Engineer will join a highly experienced dedicated team of application developers and support staff.
The IT Systems Engineer will be responsible for:
- Configure, install and support SQL Servers, Windows Servers, and Web Servers in our client’s production enterprise environments
- Undertake system health-checks and monitoring to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security
- Independently analyze, diagnose, and correct issues, providing problem resolution end-to-end
- Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes
- Assist developers with complex query tuning and indexing improvements
- Perform scheduled maintenance tasks and support application upgrade and release deployments
The IT Systems Engineer will have the following:
- MS SQL Server Administration or DBA experience is mandatory
- Excellent knowledge and abilities with performance, diagnosis, and tuning techniques across the whole stack; database internals, o/s, storage, SQL Server Query Processor, concurrency, execution plans, and indexes
- Good understanding of backups restores and recovery models
- In-depth experience of SQL Server Always On Availability Groups and Microsoft Cluster technologies
- Broad and in-depth experience of infrastructure, including virtualization, Windows Servers, Web Servers and RDS Servers in enterprise and SMB environments
- Good understanding of TCP/IP networking, firewalls, and routers
- Some programming or scripting languages e.g., PowerShell, bash, stored procedures, and TSQL
