Principal Platform Engineer – Remote/Bolton - £85k
On behalf of our well-established client based in Bolton, we are currently recruiting for a Principal Platform Engineer. As Principal Platform Engineer, you will play a key role in building and growing a new data platform engineering community of practice and the base infrastructure capabilities to how data is used and managed.
The Principal Platform Engineer will be responsible for:
- Identify, design, and implement working practices across data infrastructure to support the build of data pipelines, data architectures, testing and deployment
- Automating and templating data infrastructure provisioning to help product teams fulfil data needs
- Providing self-serve discovery, exploitation and dashboarding capabilities to data users including data science and analysts
- Defining data infrastructure best practices and sharing across the organisation
- Coaching and mentoring data platform engineers to support their growth
The Principal Platform Engineer will have the following:
- Multiple years experience delivering in a full-scale data capability
- Experience of working within a platform as product culture
- Infrastructure as code (IAC), everything built today is managed by code.
- Experience in working with technologies including Apache Kafka, cloud-based services (AWS S3, Redshift, Glue) and containers
- Experience building with modern engineering practices including the use of cloud-native technologies, DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines and agile delivery
- An understanding of data mesh and appreciation of domain-driven data products
- Experience in Coaching and mentoring team members
