We are seeking an experienced Senior Security Architect to join a major healthcare transformation programme. This is a critical role responsible for defining and governing security architecture across a complex connected healthcare environment, ensuring robust cyber security controls are embedded throughout cloud, infrastructure, application and data architectures.
As the recognised security authority for the programme, you will provide strategic leadership, technical governance and security architecture expertise to support the delivery of secure healthcare services and digital platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Security Architecture & Technical Leadership
- Define and maintain the cyber security architecture framework, including security principles, standards, patterns and reference architectures.
- Act as the senior security authority across multiple programmes and projects.
- Ensure alignment between security architecture, enterprise architecture and industry best practice.
- Provide expert guidance to technical teams, programme stakeholders and senior leadership.
Identity, Data & Infrastructure Security
- Design and govern modern Identity & Access Management (IAM) architectures.
- Establish secure approaches for data classification, encryption and privacy protection.
- Oversee the secure design of networks, APIs, integrations, middleware and third-party connectivity.
- Ensure new solutions support centralised logging, monitoring and security operations requirements.
Design Authority & Security Assurance
- Serve as the Security Design Authority across infrastructure, network, application and data domains.
- Review, challenge and approve architecture and design artefacts.
- Embed security principles early within development, engineering and procurement lifecycles.
- Ensure adherence to security policies, standards and regulatory requirements.
Risk Management & Threat Modelling
- Lead threat modelling activities across new and existing systems.
- Identify security risks and define practical mitigation strategies.
- Maintain and manage cyber risk registers, translating technical risks into business-focused language.
- Drive security improvements across cloud, hybrid and integrated technology environments.
Essential Experience
- Proven experience operating as a Senior Security Architect within complex, large-scale and highly regulated environments.
- Strong expertise across:
- Security Architecture
- Identity & Access Management (IAM)
- Cloud and Hybrid Security
- Data Protection & Encryption
- Network Security & Secure Integration
- Security Governance and Risk Management
- Threat Modelling
- Extensive experience working with recognised security frameworks and standards, including:
- ISO 27001
- NIST
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
Desirable Experience
Experience or architectural knowledge of the following technologies would be advantageous:
- Qualys (Vulnerability Management)
- Darktrace (Network Threat Detection)
- Zscaler (Secure Service Edge / SSE)
- Microsoft Sentinel (SIEM / Security Operations)
